Expectations are always sky high at Ohio State, and even coming into this season with one of the youngest teams in college basketball a majority of the fan base still expected a trip to the NCAA Tournament. That obviously did not take place, and the Buckeyes were put in the NIT. However next year the entire team returns for Matta and his staff.
There might be no bigger key to the success next season at Ohio State than the development of JaQuan Lyle. The freshman point guard was up and down in his first season under Matta's tutelage, and a big jump is expected and needed from him.
Add in improvement from all the youngsters and some additions to the frontcourt, and there is reason for optimism at Ohio State. The question becomes just how high should expectations be for 2016-17.
