A breakdown of the best Big Ten basketball matchups in the 2016-17 season

The Big Ten sent seven teams to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Will it be as competitive as it was last year?

The Big Ten recently released the conference matchups for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Times and dates have yet to be determined, but at least fans can see who has home court advantage in games where that might play a major factor.

With plenty of storylines coming into the season, conference play should be just as competitive as it was last year.

The Indiana Hoosiers won their second conference championship since 2013 behind the leadership of senior point guard Yogi Ferrell, and the Hoosiers have the tools to make it back to the top for a second year in a row. Ferrell and shooting guard Troy Williams will test their chances in the NBA, but James Blackmon is coming back after partially tearing his ACL to join a solid recruiting class

Despite being upset in the first round by a 15 seed, the Michigan State Spartans had yet another successful season, going 29-6, and brings in one of the best freshman classes in the entire country.

Many fan favorites elected to return to school as well. Nigel Hayes and Melo Trimble both tested NBA waters at this year's draft combine, but elected to return to Wisconsin and Maryland, respectively.
