Lady Bears Continue to Roll

Despite a second half comeback bid from the Lady Aggies, the #1 ranked Baylor Lady Bears were able to notch another victory Sunday afternoon in College Station.

In what was arguably the toughest conference game on Baylor's schedule, the Lady Bears prevailed with a 63-60 win over Texas A&M in front of a Reed Arena record crowd of 13,162. The victory, Baylor's sixth straight over A&M, dropped the Aggies to 18-2 (6-1) and lifted the #1 ranked Lady Bears to 19-1 (6-0) and sole possession of first place in the Big 12.

Baylor looked the part of the better team, building up a 10 point lead at halftime. However, the Lady Bears saw that comfortable lead quickly evaporate as A&M came out hot in the second half behind the hostile crowd. With, 9:11 to go in the second half, A&M took a 48-46 lead only to have Baylor's Kimetria Hayden put Baylor back up with a three pointer. The Lady Bears never trailed again.

Baylor freshman point guard Odyssey Sims led all scorers with 25 in her first ever Battle of the Brazos. Brittney Griner tallied a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while also getting 4 blocks. Texas A&M's Danielle Adams, the leading scorer in the Big 12, fouled out with just under four minutes to play and the Aggies' offense could not find the strength to overcome Baylor.

With yet another signature win under their belt, Baylor remains in the driver's seat of the Big 12 and on the path to a number one seed in the NCAA tournament.
