Adrian Colbert Confirms Baylor Commitment

Mineral Wells athlete Adrian Colbert gave his commitment to play football for Baylor on Wednesday of last week. In an interview with, Colbert stated his reasons for his verbal pledge to play football for Art Briles.

"I committed to Baylor because it is close to home. I want to be somewhere where my family can come watch me play," said Colbert on Wednesday.

Despite the published article, other sources speculated on whether Colbert had actually made a verbal commitment and on Sunday, caught up with Colbert to set the record straight.

"I am committed to Baylor," Colbert reaffirmed on Sunday. "Art Briles was the first person I told."

Colbert recently returned from a TCU visit in which he saw the campus and facilities.

"It was a nice campus. It was very nice actually," said Colbert.

Colbert explained that one major factor in his recruitment is that Baylor has offered him as an athlete.

"I just feel more comfortable getting the ATH position because that means I could be put on any side of the ball," Colbert provided.

Colbert explains that he has not seen his high school football coach since Friday to tell him the news of his commitment, one that he thought he would make after his visit to TCU. However, Colbert committed to Baylor on Wednesday before his visit to TCU this past weekend.

According to the talented athlete, TCU did not offer a scholarship during his visit.

In the world of recruiting, things can change quickly, and often do. Nothing is final or official until a letter of intent is signed and delivered in February. However as of Sunday night, Mineral Wells athlete Adrian Colbert is committed to the Baylor Bears.

Just like he was on Wednesday.
