Looking to Avoid a Trap

The national media is looking ahead to Baylor's Monday night matchup with the Kansas Jayhawks. The Bears can't do that just yet, lest they want to fall victim to a trap game. #4 Baylor (16-0, 3-0) hosts Oklahoma State (9-7, 2-1) on Saturday in the Ferrell Center.

Four days after an impressive victory at Kansas State, Baylor has to refocus and defend their unbeaten record against Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys are no scrub themselves, but around America, many are looking ahead to what may be a top-ten clash between Baylor and the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday. Team captain Quincy Acy says the Bears are trying to not focus on the rankings.

"We try not to pay attention to that, but it is hard not to. Last year we got a little fame, and we got embarrassed a couple times. Going through that last year I really stressed with our guys that we really should not get caught up in the rankings."

While the ranking may not mean much to Baylor, they could prove to be very important for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are 9-7 and in danger of missing the NCAA tournament. Picking up a signature win over a top-five team would go a long way to building their postseason resume.

Senior guard Keiton Page leads the Cowboys with 14.3 points per game and 1.7 assists. Former Baylor recruit and McDonald's All-American LeBryan Nash adds 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Cowboys head coach Travis Ford is 74-44 in his four seasons at Oklahoma State.

Baylor is led by forward Perry Jones III's 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Senior Quincy Acy averages 12.1 and 6.9 points and rebounds per game, respectively. The Bears' sixth-man, Pierre Jackson, averages nearly 12 points and 5 assists off of the bench. Quincy Miller's 11.1 points per game and Brady Heslip's 10.6 points per game round out double-figure scorers for BU.

Saturday's game between the Bears and Cowboys will tip at 2:05 p.m. CST and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
