Sellout Showdown

Baylor's 2011-2012 campaign has been historic. Saturday marks another first for Baylor Basketball: An advanced sellout. The Ferrell Center will be packed to see #3 Baylor (17-1, 4-1) host #5 Missouri (17-1, 4-1).

Saturday's game between the Baylor Bears and Missouri Tigers is the first ever advanced sellout in Ferrell Center history for the men's team, however, that's not the only first they're dealing with.

The third-ranked Bears suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night against the Kansas Jayhawks. After starting the season 17-0, Baylor was drubbed 92-74 in Lawrence, KS. Having to rebound from defeat is a first for this team and they were given no favors by the schedule makers.

The Tigers are having a historic season of their own. Mizzou is also off to 17-1 start and spent a great deal of time as an undefeated team. Missouri boasts one of the best scoring offenses in the nation (83.1 ppg) and averages just over fifty-percent from the floor. Marcus Denmon leads the Tigers with 17.8 points per game. Ricardo Ratliffe averages 13.9 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 boards per game. Former Baylor recruit and Texas native, Phil Pressey, scores 9.7 per game and runs the offense with 5.9 assists per contest.

Baylor counters with the nation's 38th best rebounding margin and 47th best scoring defense. The Bears are led by Perry Jones III who averages 14.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Quincy Acy averages 12.4 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. Baylor's spark-plug, Pierre Jackson, averages 12.2 points and 5.4 assists per game off of the bench. Quincy Miller (12) and Brady Heslip (10.1) also average double-figures in scoring for the Bears.

Saturday's game between Baylor and Missouri at the Ferrell Center will tip at 1:00 p.m. CST and be televised nationally on ESPN.
