After visiting Baylor University last week for Junior Day, Frisco Centennial High School standout Kevin Smith decided to give his verbal pledge to play for the Baylor Bears.

"I liked everything about it," said the 6'2" 240 pound defensive end. "It is close to home, and I knew right away that is where I wanted to go," Smith said.

Smith, a 1st Team all-district selection out of the 4A high school, tallied 84 tackles last season and added 13 sacks.

"I am a pretty balanced player," Smith explains. "I can rush the passer or stop the run."

Smith provided that he loved his junior day visit to the Baylor campus and enjoyed the weight room facilities housed inside the on-campus football complex.

While Smith holds no other offers other than his Baylor offer, he has been getting interest from Texas A&M, Tulsa, TCU and SMU among others. Smith says he does not plan on attending any junior days at any other schools.

"I am committed to Baylor. My family is really excited."
