2012 Big 12 Basketball Recruiting Review Pt 2

Find out where each class ranks in the Big 12 and some "Best of" awards for the players.

Class Ranks

  1. Baylor- Baylor has the 3 on the Scout Top 100, and the highest Big 12 signee in Isaiah Austin.
  2. Kansas- I think Perry Ellis is underrated and White has the chance to be special. They also have some nice projects as well.
  3. Texas- Ridley is highly ranked, but I am not a huge fan. I am a huge fan of Felix who I think will finally fix the point guard problems long term for the Longhorns.
  4. Oklahoma State- Marcus Smart is good enough by himself to make this a good class. Add in a great shooter like Forte and this turns into a Top 25 class.
  5. West Virginia- Elijah Macon is a very good player along with 2 solid shooting guard prospects.
  6. Oklahoma- Buddy Hield is a legit 4-star caliber recruit who will come in shooting for the Sooners. Not much outside of him though for Lon Kruger.
  7. Iowa State- Georges Niang is good, but the rest are projects that only do 1 thing very well. Can they get some more transfers?
  8. Texas Tech- A classic Billy Gillespie class, with good athletes and hard workers. All 3 players are between 6-5 and 6-7.
  9. TCU- not even a very good mid-major recruiting class.
  10. Kansas State- Down to just 1 recruit, Bruce Weber will probably get a few late signees to fill out the roster. For now they are at the bottom.

Individual Awards

Strongest Position – Power Forward. With three 4-star recruits (Gathers, Ellis and Elijah Marcon from West Virginia), and several long term projects to choose from, they have top level talent and a few 4-year players that could turn into good players.

Weakest Position - Small Forward. Outside of Andrew White, there is just a lot of upside with very little proven basketball talent.
