Player Spotlight: Beau Blackshear

All summer long leading up to the opening kickoff for the Baylor Bears, will spotlight players on the 2012 Baylor football roster.

Player spotlight—Beau Blackshear

Defensive lineman Beau Blackshear came to Baylor as part of the heralded Baylor Class of 2011. A 3-star prospect, Blackshear came to Baylor over offers from TCU and Texas Tech. At 6'4" and 270 pounds, the Waco Midway High School product came into Baylor ranked the 112th-best defensive end in the country.

Projection: Blackshear will need to stay healthy to make an impact this season. If he does, the future is bright for the talented defensive lineman. Blackshear has added good weight to his 6'4" frame allowing the possibility of Blackshear to play interior defensive line or on the edge. This will likely not be his breakout season, but Blackshear will contribute this season for Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Bennett and the Baylor defense. During Spring, Blackshear appeared to be solidly in the 2-deep at the defensive tackle position.
