The Baylor Bears picked up their 8th verbal commitment for the 2013 recruiting class this weekend, as Raaquan Davis gave his pledge to the Bears. The 6-2, 208 pound Rockwall-Heath product is the 4th commitment for the Bears defense, joining defensive end Kevin Smith, and linebackers Travon Blanchard and D.J. Green.
"I committed to Baylor because it's just the place for me. Since my first time visiting there I just felt a feeling that I never felt from being at any other schools" Davis told BearsIllustrated.com.
When asked about what stood out to him about Baylor, Davis said "I also love Baylor's mentality about everything. Whatever they want they don't care about the obstacles and hardships in their way. And being close to home is always a plus."
Davis, a 1st-team All-District Selection Linebacker last season at the 4A high school, finished with a total of 111 tackles and a fumble recovery.
While Davis has played linebacker at the high school level, a position change might be in his future when he gets to college. With a reported 4.6 40-time, he has the speed to play the Bears hybrid position or maybe even safety.
So is the recruiting for this young man done? "I am 100% [committed]" says Davis.
