Sterns reopens recruitment

6'1" 195-pound Safety decommits from Texas Tech, reopens recruitment.

The 3-star safety from Steele HS (Cibolo, TX) confirmed over the phone that he is no longer committed to Texas Tech.

Sterns is still considering Texas Tech, and has them in his top four. "I wanted to open my recruitment back up," Sterns said. "right now, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Tech, and TCU are my favorites." Sterns will take visits to Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech this summer, but is not planning on attending any camps.

On what about Baylor he likes, Sterns replied, "My dad played basketball at Baylor, and I've gone with him to quite a few football and basketball games." He also mentioned the improvements made lately by the Baylor program, to the point where Baylor has "championship contending teams each year."

With his senior season, Sterns stated his main goal is for Steele HS to make the State Championships. Sterns said that making state for his teammates and coaches is more important than anything individual for him this fall, but he wants to improve himself as a player going into Division 1 football in 2013.

Sterns did not suggest there was any timetable for his decision at this time.
