The Bears big recruiting weekend got off to an early start with a commitment from Chris Callahan, a kicker/punter from Second Baptist in Houston.
"Chris is an outstanding kicking prospect. He has a huge leg and hits a great ball off the ground. Shows D1 talent at all 3 positions. He is smooth on field goals, big on kickoffs, and a capable punter. Should have a great summer! Big time prospect" said Chris Sailer, a kicking guru that Callahan has worked with.
So what got his attention about Baylor? "Baylor is a fantastic school. The education I will be receiving was a major role in my decision. I cannot think of a place I'd rather be to further my education as well as play football for a program with such great history and an amazing staff," said the soon to be Bear.
According to the Houston Chronicle back in August, Callahan had a summer tryout in front of Urban Meyer and Nick Saban which put him on a lot of recruiting radars. But Baylor secured the Greater Houston Area Special Teams MVP. The program and the facilities are top notch and it was an opportunity that I couldn't turn down. The proximity to Houston so that my mom can come and see me play was a factor as well. Truly a dream come true."
Callahan is the 22nd commitment for the class of 2013.
