A New Era in Baylor Football

Since the arrival of Art Briles, there has been a resurgence in the Baylor football program, that hasn't been seen since the Grant Teaff era. Heading into the 2013 season, expectations are high for the Baylor Bears and BearsIllustrated caught up with past BU letterman to get their take on the upcoming season!

Doormat. Cupcake. Easy Win. These words were common ways to describe Baylor Football before Art Briles came to Waco from the University of Houston. Baylor was continuously chosen last by Big 12 media members, and not expected to compete much on the football field.

After the arrival of Art Briles, the transformation began. First came the change in culture of the program. Second came the athletes. Third came the WINS. Following their fist 10 win season and Heisman Trophy Winner, the Bears picked up right where they left off. Although the Bears started slow out of the gate, things got exciting as the Bears reeled off 5 wins in their last 6 games. To say the Bears ended the season hot, would be an understatement.

Fast forward to the present and things couldn't be brighter for Art Briles and the Bears. Although there is some uncertainty with a new QB, in Bryce Petty, as Art Briles said "We expect him to break every record, and he expects that too." Behind two All-American OL, the duo known as "thunder and lightening" should have no issues finding holes to run through. And with a defense that showed major improvement at the end of last season, this years version of the Baylor Bears could find themselves in the drivers seat for a possible run at a Big 12 Championship.

With the excitement surrounding the Bears, heading in to the opener against Wofford, BearsIllustrated was able to catch up with several past BU letterman to get their take on the 2013 version of the Baylor Bears. Join the discussion inside BearsIllustrated.com.
