When Baylor fans caught wind of the Bears 22nd commitment, there may have been excitement, followed quickly by "who?" On Thursday morning, Baylor welcomed it's 22nd commitment in Nacogdoches (TX) DL Greg Roberts.
This commitment seemingly came out of nowhere, but what Baylor fans may find interesting is that Greg has actually been committed to Baylor for almost 2 months now, after receiving an offer after one of Baylor's satellite camps. When asked it he kept the pledge quiet on purpose, he said "not really on purpose, I'm just not one to brag I guess."
Greg has a huge frame, as currently he stands about 6'5 and around 205 lbs. He says he likes to be very aggressive on the line and "likes to hit QBs and get TFL's. I guess you could say I want to be a part of every play." If his stats don't speak for themselves, then his bloodlines certainly will. He is the son of former All-American DL Greg Roberts, who manned the DL with the Oklahoma Sooners.
He says he is excited to be a Baylor Bear. He is a possible greyshirt candidate, but things aren't ironed out with that yet. BearsIllustrated will check in with Greg throughout the season to see how things are going.
A possible new recruit enters the fold for 2014?
Alin Edouard is a name that Baylor fans may soon hear about. Alin is a senior at Hialeah (FL) Senior High and is a 6'2, 180 lb QB prospect.
Alin is currently committed to the University of Miami, but recently decided to look around after the Canes picked up two QB commitments, recently. He says his interest in Baylor picked up about 2 weeks ago. His interest in Baylor can be attributed to the fact that RG3 was such a success. Alin says that he patterns his game after the Heisman Trophy winner, and feels that Baylor can help him succeed as a QB.
While he hasn't been able to get a hold of the Baylor coaches, he does plan to continue to try and contact them and says that he would love to get down to Waco for a visit. BearsIllustrated will continue to track this recruit and bring you the latest when any news breaks.
President Ready to get in Rhythm
Chad President has kept busy this summer in preparation for his first year at QB for Temple (TX) Highschool. During his sophomore year, the Baylor commit played WR as the QB position was manned by Zach Allen, a TCU signee.
President attended two Baylor camps, and says that he loved getting pointers from his future position coach, Phillip Montgomery. He says that he has been working on his release and also his footwork. He will have a chance to put all his hard work on display when Temple HS begins fall practice on Aug. 12.
BearsIllustrated will keep up with Chad throughout the season to see how things are going.
