Buy or Sell: Baylor Bears

Do you buy or sell the Baylor Bears this year? We discuss this question and look forward to Baylor's Week 1 opponent, the Wofford Terriers. Join us at as we discuss this question among others.

Competing for a Big 12 Championship was always an unfathomable dream for Baylor fans. Heck, most Baylor fans were happy just getting to 6 wins and the dream of playing in a bowl game. Baylor was often checked off as a win for a majority of the Big 12 teams, once the season rolled around. Not Anymore. Folks the new Bears are for real, and for this reason we at are BUYING the Baylor Bears.

This years Baylor team has been called a "National Championship Contender" by ESPN CFB Analyst Lou Holtz. Sports Illustrated lists Baylor as a team to adopt this year, and says "Baylor dressing the part of Big 12 contender." These are uncharted waters for the Baylor Bears, but Coach Art Briles has these Bears believing!

Baylor returns electric RB Lache Seastrunk, who is listed by many national writers as a true Heisman darkhorse. The defense returns several starters, that if the last 6 games of 2012 are any indication, could have a breakout year and possibly one of the top defenses in the country. Baylor has always been unstoppable on offense, but adding a stout defense could make the Baylor Bears an absolute nightmare for teams and could lead them to their first Big 12 Championship in several years and possibly the National Championship. Did we really just mention Baylor and National Championship in the same sentence? Yes we did!

One of the lone question marks on offense, however, is Junior QB Bryce Petty. Petty is a big, athletic QB who has impressed in off-season workouts and during practice. He has a big arm and can run. Honestly, he is compared a lot to Heisman QB RG3, and has even broken some of Griffin's strength numbers. One person not short on confidence in the junior signal-caller is Coach Briles. "We expect him to come in and break all of the single season pass records," Briles said. "And I know he plans to do that as well." Petty will see his first action as a starter, when the Bears meet the Wofford Terriers on August 31st, in Waco, TX.

The August 31st game marks the beginning of the last season at Floyd Casey stadium. Floyd Casey has been the home of the Bears for over 50 years. After this season, the Bears will move in to their new state-of-the-art football stadium. Baylor Stadium is located on the banks of the Brazos River and is expected to be one of the top college football stadiums in the whole country. Baylor Athletic Director Ian McCaw has dubbed the stadium, "the collegiate version of the Cowboys Stadium." If anyone has been to the Dallas Cowboys stadium, then you can only imagine how amazing Baylor Stadium is going to be!

Baylor fans should be excited about the 2013 season. Baylor has the talent, the coaching, and the type of schedule that could allow for a HUGE year. Buckle your seat belts, Baylor fans, it's going to be a FUN ride!
