Bear Nuggets - Press Conference Coverage

With game week upon us, we finally get the return of Art Briles press conference. Join us as we take a look at some of the bullet points he reviewed.

One of the big question marks of the last few weeks of Fall Practice has been the status of starting defensive tackle Javonte Magee. Coach Briles finally confirmed what some had feared, that Magee had a loss in the family and was at a funeral in Louisiana.

Coach Briles also broke down the running back situation for Saturday as well. Devin Chafin has a waiver issues that he is working on getting cleared up and is unlikely to play against Wofford. Also Glasco Martin is looking better and could play the season opener, though in a very limited role. The main beneficiary of the possible minimization of these two bruising running backs is Shock Linwood, a redshirt freshman running back of a much more slight build.

Linwood has looked very good in practice so far and has shot up the depth charts. At just 5-foot-eight inches tall, and weighing a stocky 200 pounds, Linwood brings a bit more zip to the backup position than either Martin or Chafin do.

Finally, with the season upon us, Art Briles might finally be tapping the break ever so slightly on the outward displays of confidence for this team. When asked if this is the best Baylor team he has had, he said ""I don't know how anybody could make that assumption."
