Texas went in to their game with BYU hoping to improve off of their previous lackluster performance. Well things didn't work out as planned, as BYU gained over 550 yards rushing and almost 700 yards of offense against a Texas defense that was supposed to be a major plus for their team this year. This led to a rearranging of the UT staff, as Manny Diaz was replaced as Defensive Coordinator by Greg Robinson. Texas fans will remember that Greg Robinson was the DC at Texas in 2004.
Also around the Big 12, was the first conference game between OU and WVU. OU was coming off an impressive win against ULM, and WVU was coming off win over William & Mary which proved to be more of a nail biter than WVU wanted. OU's defense proved to be the difference again this week, but their offensive output was less than impressive. Trevor Knight struggled for the second straight week and was replaced by Blake Bell in the 4th quarter. OU would pull out the win, but it was closer than most people thought.
All other teams in the Big 12 had relatively easy games and took out frustration on their opponents from the previous week.
