What President planned to show the Baylor coaches was not only the fact that he was an outstanding athlete, but that he would be able to compete as a Quarterback prospect at Baylor. And while his first two games of the season showed great promise, the run came to an end unexpectedly early when President tore his ACL in the first quarter of his third game, against Southlake Carroll at Floyd Casey Stadium.
So how have things being going since his surgery to repair the torn ligament in his knee? "Rehab is great. I try to hit it hard everyday," President said. "I'm able to do everything, just no contact. When I lift weights, I can't do a lot of weight."
Generally when athletes go through injuries, not only do they run in to issues getting back physically, but they do run in to problems mentally as well. And with President this is no different. "Getting back to normal mentally will be tough, I think. My Athletic Trainer helps me a lot, President said. "She's always around me when I'm doing rehab. Then I have a close friend that helps. She's like my number one fan. She's always been there. She really pushes me mentally, which helps a lot. And of course my parents talk with me. So I have a good support group."
President is working to get back for summer workouts and says that his main focus is getting healthy and working to "get that QB feeling back." He does say that running the ball, moving out of the pocket, and using his arm strength to push the ball down the field, are his biggest strengths.
As for his relationship with Baylor, Chad says that he has a great relationship with Coach Montgomery. "We didn't talk as much during the season cause of theirs games and stuff, but it's a good relationship. I can call him up at anytime and just basically talk about life and not even football."
With Baylor's Junior Day coming up in 3 days, Chad President will make the short trip up I-35 to the Baylor Campus. He is excited about getting on campus, and when asked who he would like to play with at the next level, he was quick to mention DeMarkus Lodge, at Cedar Hill (TX) High School. It remains to be seen how that will work out, there is no question that Chad and fellow commit Blake Lynch are working to ensure that this Baylor class is special!
