Omenihu Looking for a Baylor Offer

2015 Rowlett High School stand out, Charles Omenihu talks Baylor Junior Day. The stand out DE recently received an offer, but discusses an offer that he is waiting for.

Coach Phil Bennett has made major strides in improving the Baylor defense over the past few years. This improvement has been in large part to the fact that Bennett is beginning to field more athletes. This is no different in the recruitment of Charles Omenihu.

In the 2014 class, two rangy, athletic DE's will sign with Baylor, in Jamie Jacobs and Xaiver Jones. Omenihu, a 6'5, 220 lb DE out of Rowlett (TX) High School, fits the same exact mold of those two players. He has long arms, is fast, and can get off the line quick. And while he does not have an offer yet, it may just be as simple as improving in spring ball for the Bears to pull the trigger on an offer.

Recently, Omenihu attended the Baylor Junior Day and came away confident but focused on getting that elusive offer. "I'm really thinking hard about things," Omenihu said. "I want that offer."

As far as the visit, Omenihu says it went well. "I love the campus and what they do for the atlhetes, and of course all the football stuff. I really like Coach Achuff and Coach Gush." His relationship with Coach Achuff could be the thing that helps get his offer from Baylor. He is in constant contact with the coaches and says that the coaches want him to work on a few things. "They want me to get strong and work on my pass rushing techniques. They are coming to see me in the spring to really see if I've improved on those things they pointed out."

Omenihu was recently offered by SMU and already has offers from Northwestern, Louisiana Tech, and Tulsa. This week, Michigan also came by to visit Omenihu. BearsIllustrated will continue to monitor Omenihu's recruiting and will update things periodically.
