Scott Drew has had some amazing success with junior college players the last few years. Three years ago, be brought Pierre Jackson to Waco, and then last year he brought Kenny Chery. He has already signed a third point guard from the junior college ranks in Lester Medford.
Today though, Drew will try his hand at the forward position, getting the commitment of Deng Deng, a junior-to-be from Lee College. Deng chose the Bears over LSU, whom he was committed to play for last year, and Nebraska.
At 6-foot-8, Deng will bring much needed size to the Bears front-court, though he is much more of a wing player than a traditional post. He averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game this year, and shot over 50% from the field.
Deng joins fellow post player Terry Maston, guards Damiyne Durhman and Kobie Eubanks and junior college point guard Lester Medford in the 2014 recruiting class for Baylor. As of right now, this completes the class, and barring any attrition, the Bears are full for 2014-15.
