Jordan Tolbert is a Bear!

Jordan Tolbert become the 9th commitment for Coach Art Briles and the Baylor Bears, when he made his commitment to the Big 12 Champions over twitter this evening.

Recruiting has been somewhat of a roller coaster for Missouri City (TX) Ridge Point HS DB Jordan Tolbert. Once committed to the Houston Cougars, the 5'11, 160 lb Corner, began to see his stock pick up furiously. After receiving an offer from the Baylor Bears, Tolbert made his way to the Waco campus to take in the first Baylor Junior Day. "After I committed to Houston, I felt that maybe I rushed things a little, and after my first Baylor visit, I felt that I should open things up and see what was out there."

BearsIllustrated spoke to the talented 2015 prospect after a visit to Waco, and Tolbert said "it went great" and that Baylor was "high on my list. I like them a lot." There were thoughts that Tolbert was a Baylor lean, but recruiting recently began to pick up, as Tolbert picked up offers from Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Utah, to name a few, and many felt that Tolbert would slow things down. However, as Baylor consistently recruited Tolbert, things seem to lean more and more towards Baylor, leading up to his commitment this evening. "After my visit, I just felt at home there. Everything is awesome, and you can get a great education," Tolbert said. "I'm not gonna play football forever, so it will be good to get a great education. I also had a great relationships with Coach Buckles. He was recruiting me the whole time, and I'm excited for him to be my coach."

With his decommitment from Houston, and now his commitment to Baylor, is Tolbert done? "I had planned to come down on the 17th to commit, but I just knew that Baylor was the place for me. The only other visit I had was Texas," Tolbert mentioned, "but it just didn't add up to Baylor. I knew this (Baylor) was where I needed to be. I'm not looking anywhere else. Baylor is my school!" With Baylor now at 9 commitments on the year, things should begin to slow down for the Baylor coaching staff, as they only have a few more spots to fill up. The 2015 recruiting class should be looking at around 15 commits. Join us at BearsIllustrated, as we continue to bring more information on this breaking commitment!
