The Baylor Bears head out to play their first road game of the season tonight as they take on the Buffalo Bulls on ESPN. Baylor's starting QB and Heisman hopeful Bryce Petty is back from a back injury to lead the Baylor offense. The Bears are still without Antwan Goodley (quad), Corey Coleman (hamstring), Levi Norwood (wrist), and Clay Fuller (clavicle), they do, however, still have Jay Lee, KD Cannon, and Davion Hall who proved themselves capable of carrying the offense last week against Northwestern State.
Buffalo fans are going all out as their team takes on the Bears, the student body camped out last night, and they are blacking out the stadium tonight. The atmosphere is going to be similar to the UL Monroe two years ago, who also blacked the Bears out and threw everything they could at the Bears. Buffalo, however, has lost several key players from last year and has struggled so far this year. They gave up 28 points to FCS Duquesne and lost to Army, who won three games last year.
Coming off a record setting performance, KD Cannon will have starting QB Bryce Petty back throwing to him tonight. Cannon is the leading receiver on the team with 282 yards and 4 TDs, look for him to have at least one long TD throw from Petty in the first half. The Bears should lean on Cannon, Lee, and Hall in the passing game. Though Ishmael Zamora and Chris Platt traveled with the team, the coaching staff still hopes to preserve their redshirts and lean on that trio of WRs. Devin Chafin (ankle) is still out, so like last week the Bears will rely on Shock Linwood, Johnny Jefferson, and Silas Nacita in the running game. Tre'Von Armstead is also back from injury and should be a target for the Bears in the redzone.
Buffalo overall is not as good a team as last year, and the Bears should be able to take care of business on the road tonight.
