Martin: "I Am 100% Committed To Baylor"

BearsIllustrated caught up with long time Baylor commit, Kameron Martin, after the news that he had shut down his recruitment and was pledging his 100% commitment to Art Briles and the Baylor Bears!

In todays age of recruiting, it is sometimes uncommon to hear a recruit say that he is shutting down his recruitment and pledging 100% to a University.

This was not the case for Baylor commit, Kameron Martin.

A week ago, Martin tipped off BearsIllustrated that he was going to shut things down this week. This after an article on Hornsdigest.com, that mentioned the Longhorns growing interest in the Scout.com 4-star RB.

Martin is the 4th rated RB in the Country, and the #1 rated RB in the State of Texas, according to Scout.com. After committing to Baylor several months ago, the Port Arthur (TX) Memorial HS product has been a very popular man.

"I was hearing from a lot of schools when I first committed to Baylor. I was playing the recruiting game, but on Sunday I made it official to shut down my recruitment and be 100% with Baylor."

So what was it that helped him make the decision to commit 100% to Baylor and no longer take calls from other schools? "To be honest, I look at my commitment like I do my relationship with my girlfriend," Martin said, "I was always taught to be a faithful person, so I felt like when schools DM'd me (on twitter), or I talk to other schools, that I'm cheating on Baylor."

Martin is considered by many to be the cornerstone of the 2016 class. Baylor was the first offer for Martin, as an 8th grader, and Martin says that he was excited to let the coaches know. "When I first committed to Baylor, I told Coach Briles that I would be 100% with him and the staff. When I made it official, I gave the coaches a call and they were really happy for me. They told me they will be 100% for me."

Baylor fans are familiar with Blake Lynch, and his impact on the 2015 class. Well with Martin committed 100%, what are his thoughts with regards to helping recruit for the 2016 class? "Well now that y recruitment is done, I will be finding the guys that want to be winners, and help Baylor get to a different level. I've been recruiting hard!"

With a class that is sitting at 5 commits, currently, Kameron has already began reaching out to recruits, as he said, and is looking to add to the class quickly. BearsIllustrated will continue to follow Kameron, the 2016 class, and any new offers that may go out from the Bears coaching staff.
