Ashton Warren, of, caught up with 2016 Waco (TX) Midway HS DB, Cairo Attaway, to get an update on his recruiting.

--- How is your recruitment going so far?

It’s going pretty good. I actually just got back from a Texas top athlete showcase. It was an invite for the top recruits in Texas. I made a highlight and have been sending that out. Before it’s been pretty good. I’ve been hearing from Mizzou, SMU, a little bit from Baylor, TCU, UTSA, and North Texas.

--- How was the showcase?

It was good. There was a lot of talent there. It was this past Sunday in Dallas.

--- How do you feel you did?

Everyone so far has said I did pretty good!

--- What kind of feedback did you get?

The coaches there said that they like my quickness and that I’m built strong for a DB.

--- Did you bring anyone with you to come support you?

Yeah, my dad was with me.

--- What role does he play in your recruitment process?

He’s kind of neutral. He just wants me to end up wherever I want to go. He supports me.

--- Which coach have you been hearing from at Baylor?

It was coach Norwood but I know he took off so I’ll probably go to a camp this summer and see what happens next.

--- How was your playoff run?

It was good. We made it to the third round and lost by one point but I’m looking forward to next year though.

--- How do you think the playoff run will help the team prepare?

I think it will be really good. Right now we are working really hard and I think everyone will improve a lot.

--- What are your goals for next season?

My goals are to be twice as good as I was this year, to be a leader on the defense, and to make it to the state championship.

--- What will your role be as a leader?

I want to lead my teammates in a positive direction. We have a great team, but we can always improve.

--- Did you ever attend Baylor games growing up as a kid?

Oh yeah, all the time!

--- How does being in Waco affect your opinions?

It makes it really hard not to hear about all the great things going on at the campus and with the football program. Baylor’s success makes me and a lot of the prospects want to be a part of a big time program like that.

--- What do you think about Baylor winning back to back Big 12 Championships?

I think that’s excellent. Goes to show how high of a level Coach Briles and that whole staff coach at.

--- Any Junior Day plans?

A: Yes ma’am! I’m hoping to attend Baylor’s junior day, also I’ve already been invited to Mizzou, SMU’s, and TCU’s junior days coming up later in the spring.
