No Redshirt For True Freshman Jarrett Stidham

One of the biggest questions of Baylor's fall camp centered around the decision of what to do with Freshman Jarrett Stidham. On Tuesday afternoon, Coach Art Briles shared that decision.

When Jarrett Stidham enrolled early, at Baylor, the thought was that he would come in and compete with RS Junior QB Chris Johnson. After all, many felt that one of the main reasons Stidham ended up signing with Baylor was the opportunity to play and not redshirt.

On Tuesday afternoon, Baylor Head Coach Art Briles made the decision. Jarrett Stidham has been named the #2 QB behind RS Junior QB Seth Russell. Chris Johnson will be moved to WR.

This news has been met with mixed emotions among the Baylor faithful. Many believe that the smart thing to do was to redshirt the talented Freshman, while many have said that he would be too good to redshirt. Briles has gone on record as stating that Stidham "is as good as advertised." Stidham had been splitting time with Johnson during the 2 scrimmages that Baylor had, and each of those scrimmages it was obvious that he was continuing to improve and was beginning to separate himself from Johnson.

Briles is putting his team in the possible hands of a True Freshman, should anything happen to Russell, and if there is anyone out there that can determine the readiness of a QB it is Art Briles.
