The Baylor Bears, the Back-to-back Big 12 Champions, look to start the home portion of their 2015 schedule Saturday evening against the Lamar Cardinals. Lamar, an 8-4 FCS team in 2014, are 1-0 on the year, and looking to secure a second consecutive victory over the Bears, with their last being in 1980. Baylor though is a big-time favorite, going against a team that didn't even have football just 5 years ago.

From The Other Side: Lamar Cardinals ($)
Danny Shapiro, with the Beaumont Enterprise, answers 5 Q's about the Lamar Cardinals leading up to 6:30 pm kickoff at McLane Stadium against the Baylor Bears
1. Lamar is still in the early stages of building their program. Where do you see the program at now, compared to when it began, and what do you think the next step is?
Lamar is in a much better spot than when it restarted the program in 2010. The Cardinals are coming off their first winning season and first win over rival McNeese State since the program's reintroduction. The goal for the Cardinals now is to start compiling consecutive winning seasons. That's been the talk around the program this season. If the Cardinals can start winning consistently, it will do wonders for recruiting, revenue and exposure.
Baylor hosts Lamar in Home Opener
In 2009, the Baylor Bears were in their 2nd year under head coach Art Briles, and about to start their second consecutive 4-8 campaign. It was the beginning of the journey towards respectabtility, past good and into dominance. That same year, Lamar began the arduous task of not just rebuilding a football program, but starting one from scratch. From 1980 to 2009, Lamar was without football. In 2010, both Baylor and Lamar started a new chapter in their football stories.
The Cardinals broke through last year with a 8-4 record, by far their most successful season in recent history. The Southland Conference members are 1-0 on the year, after drubbing Bacone College (NAIA) in the opener 66-3. Lamar will be coming to Waco looking for their second consecutive win over the Bears, following a shocking 18-17 win over Top-25 Baylor. Vengeance will obviously be on the mind of the Bears.
Baylor vs. Lamar Game Predictions ($)
BearsIllustrated Co-Owner and Recruiting Coordinator
The name of this game is NO INJURIES. This is one of those games that is tough to watch from a coaching standpoint because your team is expected to go out and dominate. This is also a game that majority of the time lets you work on things that you dont get to in practice. Game reps are much better than practice reps. Look for Baylor to score early and often, and look for Jarrett Stidham to get some big minutes. This one is over in the 2nd quarter.
