It is a Happy New Years on the recruiting trail for the Baylor Bears, as 4-star defensive end Brandon Bowen committed to Baylor over Oklahoma and Oregon. The 4-star defensive end was one of the most highly coveted defensive players in the state with just over 1-month to go till signing day.
Bowen is the Bears 20th commitment in the 2016 class and the 6th player in the Scout-300 to verbally pledge to the Bears. He is joined along the defensive line by commits Michael Johnson, JuCo All-American Jeremy Faulk, and fellow SCOUT-300 member Bravvion Roy. Baylor still has 3-5 spots left in the 2016 class. Keep checking back with BearsIllustrated.com as we cover the final month before signing day.
Bowen is a versatile and athletic player capable of playing either side of the ball at the high-major level. That said, Bowen's frame potential and athleticism make him an elite pass-rushing prospect. Very tall and long with ample space for bulk addition. State champion-caliber high-jumper with rare athleticism for DE position. Disengages well with fast hand-fighting ability. Needs to build strength for P5 level, but very high ceiling.-Gabe Brooks
