The Bears have 22 verbal commitments going into National Signing Day with several key prospects left to decide. Let's take a look at the possible members of the 2016 Baylor football signing class. 

Quarterback

Status: Enrolled

BI Thoughts: The mid-term enrollee, Smith profiles as a true pocket passer.  With gerat size and a powerful arm, Smith has above average athleticism.  He most resembles former Bear and current NFL Quarterback Bryce Petty.

Briles Comments: 


Running Back

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: The longtime Baylor commit, Martin is one of the most explosive players in the state.  He seems to be a perfect fit for the Baylor offense, and has been one of the leaders of this class.

Wide Receiver

Status: Enrolled

BI Thoughts: The record setting reciever flipped away from the Bears after being the first commitment for the 2016 class. However, he came back after building a relationship with new WR coach Tate Wallis.  Dickson has been incredibly productive in high school and looks to use his advanced skills in college. 

Briles Comments: 


Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: Pure speed.  Duvernay is a blazer on the field, as fast as any player in this class. The 4th ranked WR in this class, he is a player to watch right away in the Baylor offensive attack.

BI Thoughts: At 6-foot 3, Atkinson has incredible height and size for the outside receiver position.

BI Thoughts: A very projectible player, Mims was lightly recruited but caught the Baylor staff's attention this Summer and earned an offer. Could be a late bloomer in the Josh Gordon mold.

Offensive Linemen

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: The longtime Baylor commit is down to Texas and Baylor as signing day approaches. A true power guard, Hudson has incredible size and strength and could play inside or outside for the Bears.

BI Thoughts: A pure tackle prospect, Urquidez has tremendous agility and a prototypical tackle body. A high end 4-star, he has as much upside as any recent linemen signee for the Bears.

BI Thoughts: The juco guard profiles as an immediate starter in the interior for the Bears.

Briles Comments: 


Defensive Linemen

Status: Enrolled

BI Thoughts: The Juco All-American is already on campus and should compete for early playing time at defensive tackle. More of a pass rushing threat, could also slide out to defensive end in a 3-man front.

BI Thoughts: The recent commit is expected to make an instant impact on the depth chart. Another Juco All-American, Osborne is more of a prototypical DT.

BI Thoughts: One of the top rated defensive linemen in the state, Roy has an incredible motor to go along with great strength. Will need to refine his technique, but could play early, similar to Andrew Billings.

BI Thoughts: A potential star on the outside, Bowen has everything you want in a high school defensive end. Could be a major pass rushing threat right away for the Bears.

BI Thoughts: A very projectible defensive end, Johnson has put on some great weight this year since committing last September.

Linebacker

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: A very strong pass rusher in high school, Williams displays good tackling technique and above average speed for the position. Will need to gain weight.

Cornerback

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: Committing to the Bears Tuesday night after being a long-time pledge of Oklahoma, Cobb elected to stay home. At 5'11", he has good height and great size for the position. Profiles as a top-tier corner prospect.

BI Thoughts: A very strong athlete, Preciado committed to the Bears early in the summer.

BI Thoughts: With tremendous technique and natural instincts, Texada is a true corner. Great speed and ability to stick with receivers, Texada could come in and play early for the Bears.

BI Thoughts: Albeit undersized, Arnold makes up for it with sheer athleticism. One of the best athletes in the state, the former high school quarterback will make the transition to corner in college.

Safety

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: A candidate to move down to the nickle back position, Miller is a thumper. Displayed incredible athleticism this summer.

BI Thoughts: One of the hardest hitters in the state, Ivy is a pure strong safety, even though he is undersized.

Briles Comments: 


Athlete

Status: SIGNED

BI Thoughts: A top-tier athlete, Duvernay could slide to the offensive side of the ball to play WR or stick on defense at corner.

Specialists

Status: Uncommitted

BI Thoughts:The top kicking prospect in the nation, Nordin visited the Bears recently before decommitting from Penn State. He is down to Baylor, Michigan and USC and will announce on signing day.
