The Lady Bears are once again champions of the Big 12. That has been the case for 6-straight years now, following their 6th straight regular season title clinched just a week ago against these same Longhorns. The Big 12 is Baylor's, there is no denying it. As Texas Head Coach Karen Aston said after the game, the Big 12 goes through Baylor right now.
A 33-1 record, with the lone blemmish coming with Niya Johnson and Alexis Prince out for the road game against Oklahoma State. Another Big 12 title, a tournament title, and a #1 seed widely expected for the NCAA tournament, which will be announcec March 14th. For now though, the Lady Bears will sit and wait.
The first two rounds will be held in Waco, TX in front of one of the best women's basketball fanbases in the nation. After that, the four regional sites are Lexington, KY; Sioux Falls, SD; Brideport, Conn; and Dallas, TX. From a logistics standpoint, Dallas makes the most sense by far for Baylor, and is a place where they have had super regionals before. With Connecticut, South Carolina, and Notre Dame being the other likely #1 seeds, Dallas will most likely be the choice for the Lady Bears.
It will all culminate in Indianapolis, the site of the Lady Bears first championship in 2005. That is the goal this year, as it has been since their 2011-12 championship season since they have made the Final Four. "Eight is not Enough" has been the motto of this season, after back to back losses to Notre Dame in the Elite Eight.
