With recruiting dipping the past few weeks, we start to build up to the summer months where the Bears will be focusing on the last spots for the 2017 class. Who are five big-time names that the Bears are targeting?
After the decomitment of 4-star Jhamon Ausbon, the Bears went scrambling for the second wide receiver in the class. The first offer, just hours after the spot opened? Manning. The top WR in the state, Manning has tremendous body control and is a dangerous red zone weapon with his 6-foot-2 frame. Getting Manning would give the Bears two elite wide receivers to build around in this class.
You can tell from the offers the past few months that Baylor is hitting defensive end hard in this class. Chaisson is at the top of the list. The 47th ranked recruit in the Scout-300, Chaisson is one of the most explosive athletes in this class. At 6'4, 220 pounds, he has some weight to gain, but his frame can more than take it. Could he grow into a 260 beast off the edge? Absolutely.
Little is an elite offensive tackle prospect, and the cream of the crop in the state of Texas. He has everything you want in a tackle with great size (6-foot-7) who is aggressive as a run-blocker. The top tackle in the state of Texas, Little is in high demand. The Bears have done quite well in recent recruiting classes at tackle, so hopefully they can continue their winning streak.
Pure. Speed. Vincent is one of the fastest players in the 2017 class. He is a dynamic athletes, and a former teammate of 2016 signee Kam Martin. The leader of the 2016 class, Martin has been working on Vincent for a long time. Getting this playmaking corner to Waco would be a huge get.
The 4-star tackle has the size that teams covet, with Watts already above 300 pounds. Watts is originally from Oklahoma, and is reportedly leaning towards the Sooners. A win here would be massive, especially taking away a top-tier target from a rival.
