Baylor Fires Coach Art Briles

The Baylor Bears relieved head football coach Art Briles of his duties today after the finalization of the Pepper Hamilton investigation.

With the culmination of the Pepper Hamilton investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Baylor University and the Baylor Bears football program completed, the Baylor Bears have fired Head Coach Art Briles.

The Head Coach for the past 8 years, Briles led a stunning turn aroud for a program that was at the bottom of the standings for the entire life of the Big 12.  Briles had a 65-37 record including back-to-back Big 12 titles in 2013 and 2014. Briles communicated the message to his player earlier this morning via mass text message.

Craig Smoak was the first to report of Briles' firing.

Baylor president Ken Starr is also expected to be removed from his position, possibly to another role at the University.  With the full release of the investigation expected later today, the full story will be known, good and bad.

Now is not the time to talk about what is next for football, but what is next for the University to never let something like this happen again.
