With the dismissal of junior college all-american Jeremy Faulk earlier this week, the Baylor Bears had a scholarship and a spot on the defensive line open for another recruit. They responded quickly, offering 6-foot-2, 285 Plano Prestonwood Will Jones.
The unranked defensive tackle verballed to Navy earlier in the year, but told BearsIllustrated that he "felt like he committed for the wrong reason". Baylor was able to offer the right ones, led by defensive line coach Jim Gush, who led his recruitment.
"I loved the staff, they were just awesome and really want the best for their players," said Jones.
Jones had offers from Navy, SFA and interest from others, but the lure of playing in the Big 12 and what Baylor had to offer were too much for him to turn down.
"The campus is so beautiful, especially the stadium," Jones told BearsIllustrated.com.
Jones is expected to make it down to Waco on July 6th to enroll and start his career as a Baylor Bear.
