The back-end of the Big 12 conference season should be a fun ride

We take a look at where things stand going in to week 9 of the Big 12 conference season

Teams are starting to position themselves for a possible run at the Big 12 title. The last games of the conference schedule should be very entertaining.

We take a look at the Big 12 Power Rankings after seven weeks of play. One thing is certain, this conference season should be one to remember.

1. West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia continued their amazing run with a thorough beat down of the TCU Horned Frogs, in Morgantown. Skyler Howard is playing great and the Mountaineer defense is suffocating its opponents. It's looking more and more like the Big 12 Title will go through West Virginia.

2. Baylor Bears

After two bye weeks and a game against Kansas, the Bears enter the meat of their schedule. Their first test begins this Saturday as Baylor heads to Austin to take on a reeling Longhorn program.

3. Oklahoma Sooners

Did Tech just score again? In all seriousness, the Sooners are in trouble if they aren't able to shore up some of the huge issues on defense. The offense can score on anyone, but it doesn't really mean much if your defense can't stop anyone.

4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Cowboys welcome West Virginia to Stillwater this weekend. Mason Rudolph is one of the best pure passers in the Big 12 and will need to be on his A game. My guess is this game comes down to whether or not the Cowboys can run the ball.

5. Kansas State Wildcats

After a couple of tough games, the Wildcats controlled and dominated their game against the Longhorns on Saturday. Does Bill Snyder have a few more upsets up his sleeve?

6. TCU Horned Frogs

What was once a team that was the favorite to win the Big 12, is limping back to Ft. Worth after a beat down at the hands of the Mountaineers. The Horned Frogs can only play spoiler now, as they have 2 losses and are likely out of the running for a Big 12 title.

7. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Honestly, I think Texas and Tech are equally as bad, but the Red Raiders looked better in a near upset of the Sooners. These two teams may score 100 on each other on Thanksgiving.

8. Texas Longhorns

There is just a laundry list of things going wrong in Austin. Coach is essentially a lame duck coach, offense isn't near as explosive as earlier this season and the defense could give up at least 30 to a HS football team. We shall see what team decides to show up on Saturday against the Bears.

9. Iowa State Cyclones

A welcomed bye week met the Cyclones last week. They hope to get things on track this weekend.

10. Kansas Jayhawks

They will continue to hold this spot until they can actually win a game, but they are showing some improvement.
