After starting 6-0, Baylor has two straight loses, including a beatdown to the hands of TCU at home. OU and WVU has continued to win and dominate the Big 12.
We take a look at the Big 12 Power Rankings after nine weeks of play. One thing is certain, this conference season should be one to remember.
1. West Virginia Mountaineers
West Virgnia faces a tough road test this weekend against Texas. Should they win that game, it could set up a big time game in Morgantown next weekend.
2. Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners could easily be #1 here, but I still give the nod to West Virginia. The Sooners play Baylor this week and barring an upset, next weekend could set up a defacto Big 12 Championship game in Morgantown.
3. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Where would things be is the Cowboys wouldn't have lost to Central Michigan? The pokes continue to win and have a few more games to make a statement to the league.
4. Texas Longhorns
The young longhorns are gaining momentum. Can they keep it up and get to that magic number of 6 wins? With Kansas left on the schedule, I think they can and Charlie Strong will get to keep his job.
5. Kansas State Wildcats
Middle of the pack is where this team always stays and a tough out they always are. The Wildcats have a bye before heading to Waco for a matchup against the Bears.
6. TCU Horned Frogs
TCU went in to Waco and beat the tar out of Baylor. It helped that Kenny Hill played the game of his life too. TCU rebounded nicely, after a bad loss to Texas Tech. TCU still needs some help to become bowl eligible, but they are on their way.
7. Baylor Bears
They took the biggest fall of everyone and rightfully so. The Bears were run out of the stadium last week, by TCU. Distractions have mounted and it reached a boiling point Saturday. Can the season still be salvaged? It can, but the team and the coaches better start focusing on just football.
8. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech continues to have issues on defense and tough games still remain. A win against TCU was followed by a disappointing loss to Texas last week.
9. Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State held tough with the Sooners, but their lack of talent reared its ugly head. Still, Cyclones fans should be excited about the future.
10. Kansas Jayhawks
They will continue to hold this spot until they can actually win a game, but they are showing some improvement.
