Eight hours after the Baylor Bears defeated the Boise State Broncos 31-12, the good news kept rolling in for Baylor with the commitment of Trevon Lewis. An unrated safety out of Houston Lamar, Lewis is one of the faster risers in the last month. Baylor offered Lewis on December 19th, with Coach David Wetzel talking frequently to the Houston area safety.
Early Wednesday morning, Lewis made it official and committed to the Bears, becoming the first recruit to pledge to Matt Rhule at Baylor.
With offers from Baylor, Utah, and Central Arkansas, it came down to the caliber of school for Lewis who "fell in love with the academics" Baylor could offer. Lewis is planning on majoring in communications. As for the playing style, Lewis was sold on an aggressive defense that could use him at either safety spot. "I feel like I can play either safety spot, the coaches have not said which one".
As for what he wants to say to Baylor fans everywhere, "get ready for the ride, it is going to be a good one". Lewis is scheduled to take his official visit to Baylor the weekend of January 13-15th, a major weekend with many key prospects attending.
