Baylor Football Recruiting Rewind - Part II

After a successful 2 weeks, we take a look at how the 2017 looks and what is left for the Bears.

The Bears are coming off of 2 very successful official visitor weekends, in which the Bears saw the 2017 class grow from 7 to 19 in just two weeks. There are still a few pieces out there and with the Bears able to take as many as 30, in this class, we take a look at who is on board and what is left for the Bears.

Available spots: 3

Skinny: James Lynch and Cole Maxwell are on board for the Bears. That is the great news. The Bears will still have about 3 spots to fill in this class. With Baylor taking James Lockhart, the transfer from Texas A&M, they will need to concentrate at least 2 of the spots on true defensive tackles. Demarco Artis was on campus this weekend and is one to watch, while DE Justin Harris will be on campus this weekend for his official visit. Both of those players would be strong gets for Baylor and have high interest in the Bears. Look for Matt Rhule and company to extend a couple of more offers this week.

Available Spots: 1

Skinny: The Bears were able to secure 2 linebackers this past week, with Mansfields Bryson Jackson and LaPortes Terrel Bernard joining the class of committed prospects. The Bears are still looking for 1 more LB prospect that can play in the middle of the defense.

Available spots: 1

Skinny: The Bears are likely looking to take one more CB in this cycle. Davis and Hand are extremely talented at the corner position and Baylor would be happy to take just those two, but there is likely another athlete type that Baylor will look at that can slide in to that corner position.

Available spots: 0

Skinny: The Bears will likely not take another safety prospect in this cycle. Ashton Logan could likely slide in to the Bear position that is currently occupied by Travon Blanchard, and Lewis and Pitre are true safety prospects.
