BearsIllustrated staff makes final predictions on future Bears

With National Signing Day less than 24 hours away, the BearsIllustrated staff makes its final predictions on who the Bears could land in the final hours

It has been a crazy past month for the new Baylor coaching staff. Matt Rhule, and his staff, have hit the ground running and have miraculously put together a solid first class in a short amount of time.

A little more than a month ago, when the staff took over, there was only 1 holdover commit from the previous staff. Since then, the Bears have reeled in 23 new commitments with about 6 spots to fill.

With those 6 spots, we don't expect Baylor to fill them all, but there are a handful of prospects making their final decisions on NSD, and publisher Tim Watkins and recruiting reporter, Kevin Barrera, take a look at who the Bears could land on signing day.

Tim's Prediction: After an initial love affair that saw attention from the Bears seemingly getting the 3-star athletes attention last week, there has been little in the way of news.  Was this just a flash in the pan or something more serious? I think it was just flirting and Miller signs with Colorado

Kevin's Prediction: I've battled back and forth with this one. Miller has been committed to Colorado since last summer, but recently took trips to Ole' Miss and Baylor. Colorado is a long way away and I always look at things from mommas point of view. Like Xavier Newman, I think Baylor will flip Miller and keep him close to home. Baylor.

Tim's Prediction: The long-time Florida State commit is back on the open market, after publicly, and privately, wavering about being a Seminole. Tired of the games, FSU pulled the plug when Artis still wanted to visit Baylor and Oregon.  The very first recruit that Matt Rhule offered as the Baylor head coach, Artis commits to Baylor

Kevin's Prediction: Things have seemed to be trending for Oregon lately and I'm inclined to jump on that train. Artis took an official visit to Oregon, this past weekend, and things seemed to go very well on that visit. I see Artis leaving Florida and heading to the Northwest. Oregon.

Tim's Prediction: Baylor offered him before the big rush, but Texas and Florida State have made some big pushes for him.  My bet is he chooses Florida State

Kevin's Prediction: Thompson was at Baylor for its last weekend of official visits and the visit went very well. Thompson is a big pass catching TE and is exactly what the Bears are looking for in their new pro spread offense. Barring a sudden change, I'd expect Thompson to sign with Baylor tomorrow. Baylor.

Tim's Prediction: One of the better defensive ends left in the class, Harris is someone that the Bears have been all over.  With LSU slowplaying him a bit, I think he is a Baylor Bear.

Kevin's Prediction: Harris is a big time player that Matt Rhule has worked very hard on. Harris would fill a crucial need on the defensive line and give the Bears defensive staff an athletic rush end to develop. This is an LSU/Baylor battle, but unless LSU comes in late, I'd expect Harris to sign with the Bears.Baylor.

Tim's Prediction: Going into the weekend, most assumed he would be a Bear, if he simply made it to campus.  Reports and rumors were out there about the A&M coaches pulling offers, but all of that was wrong it appears.  The current Aggie commit stays with the Aggies and goes to Texas A&M.

Kevin's Prediction: This is the big fish here. Johnson is a monster prospect at the LB position and would be a huge coup for Rhule and staff were he to flip on signing day. Johnson is a longtime A&M commit, but took an official visit to Baylor this past weekend. Things seem to be 50/50 right now, but it is gonna take a lot to change a commitment from the SEC school. This is a tough one, but I think Johnson will stick with A&M. Texas A&M.
