Thompson was a late bloomer, who saw his recruiting blow up towards the end of the cycle. Late offers by Utah, Texas, Florida State and Baylor forced the Washington State pledge to back away from his commitment. After late visits to Florida State and Baylor, Thompson signed with Baylor on signing day. Evaluation

Thompson posses the length and athletic ability to be an elite red zone TE at the collegiate level. Thomspon will need to continue to develop his technique and gain size in order to be a premiere pass-catching TE. Thompson has soft hands and does a great job of catching the ball at its highest point.
