Friendswood (TX) Clear Brook HS ATH, Mark Milton, talks about his recent Baylor offer

A rising prospect, Mark Milton received his 5th offer from the Bears. He talks with BearsIllustrated about that offer.

With the spring time in full swing, Baylor continues to evaluate prospects for their 2018 and 2019 classes. Speed has been a big factor in the prospects they target and their recent offer does not sway that mindset.

Friendswood (TX) Clear Brook HS ATH, Mark Milton, received his 5th offer from Baylor last week. The 6'1, 175 lb speedster is a burner on the football field. He shows great hands and great explosion after the catch.

Most of that speed, he says, can be attributed to his time on the track. "I run several events, but I'm hoping to improve my time in the 200m. Last year I ran a 21.35, but this year I hope to run under 21. Track really helps with my speed in football."

Milton currently holds offers from Bowling Green, SMU and UH, among others and says the Baylor offer caught him off guard.

"I knew they were looking at my friend Caleb, so it was a surprise they offered me. I had no clue it was coming, but it felt really good to get the offer."

Currently Milton plays on both sides of the ball, but at Baylor, Milton would be looked at on both sides of the ball, but Milton knows where he'd likely fit in best if given the option. "Coach Fran told me they saw me as a player that could play on both sides of the ball. WR on offense and CB on defense, but then he asked me what I preferred. I told him that I thought I would stand out more and be more effective playing CB at the next level."

Milton says that despite everything, Baylor is still "one of my top 3 schools I'd like to check out." The new coaching staff has done a great job of changing the culture of the program and moving Baylor Football forward, something that Milton says he appreciates. " This new staff is recruiting great athletes, but they are also looking at those athletes to be great role models in the community. They want us to carry ourselves in a proper manner so the Baylor name is respected. I think this program is being taken in the right direction to be great on and off the field."

Milton is in touch with the staff and plans on getting up to Baylor this spring to check out Baylor and a get a feel for the culture.

Since this writing, Milton has earned additonal offers, bringing his total to 7. Look for that number to continue to increase.
