Southlake (Texas) Carroll’s class of 2018 linebacker, Jacob Doddridge, recently visited Baylor to take in a practice and get to know some of the coaching staff.
“I’d have to say Baylor,” Doddridge told me when asked who he has been in contact with the most this offseason.
What you may not know is that this 6-foot-3, 225-pound versatile player already has some Baylor in his blood, as his dad, Jonathan, is a former member of the Baylor baseball team.
Doddridge’s teammate, Jackson Kimble, is already committed to Baylor for the class of 2018.
Before Doddridge’s junior year, he had been on the defensive side of the ball. He has no become a two way player, at inside linebacker and h-back, which is what Baylor is actively recruiting him for.
“It makes sense to me and it’s fun,” Doddridge expressed when asked about the transition.
About a week ago Doddridge received his very first scholarship offer from West Point, but has received much interest from schools all over the country including three other Big 12 schools- Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Texas. Doddridge has already made visits to some other schools including Texas, Kansas State, and Clemson, but has a full summer jam packed with visits.
“I’ll be back to Waco this summer,” Doddridge said. “Balyor wants me to come to one of their camps so that they can evaluate how well I catch the ball.”
Approaching his senior season, Doddridge has been working on becoming faster and putting on muscle. With increasing interest among schools for this dynamic guy, you can bet Doddridge will have plenty of colleges to choose from.
Doddridge is definitely a guy to watch and could possibly be seeing an offer from the Bears in the future. Make sure to check back to BearsIllustrated as we keep you updated with your Baylor Bears recruiting.
