Heard said Mike Hawkins - weak side linebacker for the Bears -- was his host and that he took care of him and showed him around.
"Yeah, we had a good time," Heard said. "And we (Baylor football players) all hung out together after the game and had a lot of fun."
With more official visits ahead, Heard shared those plans, but wasn't sure on all of the dates when we spoke.
"I'll be checking out Miami October 4th, it's a bye week for them, so they don't play anybody that weekend," said the 6-6, 335-pound lineman.
"I'm also going to visit Texas, but have yet to set up a date."
How about the 4th and 5th official visits?
At this time, Heard said Miami still leads for his John Hancock come Signing Day '04...
High School Notes: Heard said he's unsure about his stats and said he's missed some playing time because he's trying to remove calcium deposits in his leg.
"I've had treatment at 5:00 (p.m.) everyday for two weeks and it was working," Kellen said, "but I need to start it back up again because it didn't completely go away."
Still, according to Heard, he's registered close to 20 tackles on the season in limited playing time. His team, Wharton, is currently at 1-2.
"We beat Columbus 44-0, lost to El Campo 35-14 and lost to Brazosport 35-6."
Needless to say, everyone is rooting for Heard to make a full recovery and his team certainly needs him back on the field. Get well, Kellen!
