A Closer Look at David Gettis

David Gettis, WR out of Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, re-signed with the Baylor Bears on Wednesday. Get a closer look only in THEE BEARS DEN!

David Gettis could already be considered a legend at Baylor University. He shocked the world on national television last year by choosing Baylor University over other schools such as Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, and others. His touchdown reception in the Army All-American Bowl created a buzz around the football program. His world-class speed meant that another pupil would be coming through the track program. David Gettis never made it to campus however.

Speculation, concern, and general uncertainty arose out of Baylor fans everywhere. Would he seek a different school? Would he ever set foot on the campus again? On February 1st, David Gettis answered all the questions. Gettis signed with the Bears, again. In a recruiting world where the word "commit" sometimes lacks meaning, Gettis defined the true meaning of the term.

"It seems like the best place for me. The people there cared about me as a person, as an individual, and that's a real testament to the coahing staff at Baylor," said Gettis with an interview with TheeBearsDen.com before signing day.

Gettis is expected to be on campus in June. Coach Morriss is excited to get Gettis on the field expressing that "he's[Gettis] got great speed and athletic ability."

Gettis' feeling for the Baylor coaching staff is filled with admiration as well.

"Great coaching staff. They have about 100 years NFL coaching experience on their staff and I know they can help me get to my goal of getting to the next level. They also have a good track program. I want to do both in college."

All eyes will be on this wide receiver from California, and most will assume he will jump right into the mix of things when he sets foot on the practice field. Certainly Coach Guy Morriss thinks so.

"I believe the sky is the limit for him."
