Jerrells Named Freshman All-American

The Baylor men's basketball team has been racking up the awards lately. It started with the Big 12 coaches selection of Aaron Bruce as honorable mention All Big 12 and Curtis Jerrells as part of the All Big 12 freshman team, and has now led to even bigger awards.

Last season for the Baylor Bears, Aaron Bruce was tabbed as a Freshman All-American. Curtis Jerrells, one of Bruce's new teammates this year, matched him in that feat as Jerrells was named a Freshman All-American by CollegeInsider.com.

Despite the extreme disadvantage of having no non-conference games typically used by freshman to get used to college, Jerrells looked unflappable against Big 12 opponents all season long.

In addition to the honors given to Bruce and Jerrells from various newspapers, the coaches, and the AP, Baylor freshman Mamadou Diene was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team by the Dallas Morning News. Diene leads the Big 12 in blocks.

These 3 youngsters are just a part of the foundation of a Baylor squad that teams in the Big 12 won't be too excited to play in the future, starting with Colorado who absolutely must have a win when they face the Bears in the 1st round of the Big 12 Tournament later this week.
