Offensive Lineman Talks Future

He stands over 6-4, and recently weighed in at 305 pounds. See what this prep offensive lineman had to say about Baylor and his future plans.

John Jones is a 6-4.5 305 pound offensive lineman from Cedar Hill, Texas. We caught up with him at the combine on the Baylor University campus in Waco, Texas to get his thoughts on the combine, his plans, and the schools he is considering.

The morning of the combine provided a bit cooler than normal temperatures on the field at Floyd Casey, and Jones appreciated it.

"It's pretty good. It's nice weather, so I think my 40 time is going to be pretty good."

Jones ranked 5th out of 10 offensive lineman that participated in the 40 at the combine recording a time of 5.47. But everyone knows that 40 times are not the best indicators of how good a lineman is. So what does Jones think his biggest strength is?

"I would say my feet, my footwork. Because I play basketball I am able to move around a litlle bit better than the other people."

Jones reports holding offers from both Baylor and Kansas State. When asked if he had a leader, Jones replied.

"No, not at this time, it's wide open. Baylor and Kansas State are both up there, but either school can get up at the top." Cedar Hill High School is loaded with talent, so Jones was asked whether he would want to go to the same school as one of his high school teammates.

"Well, I haven't really thought about it, you know. It would be nice to have some of my teammates to go to the same school. I never really thought about it, but it probably would be a good advantage."

So as his senior year approaches, Jones still has several goals.

"I would like to be dominant. You know, I want to get 1st team All-District next year, and All-State." There is no doubt that 2006 will be a big year for this big man out of Cedar Hill High School.
