Daniel Baker was the most recent recipient of a scholarship offer to play football at Baylor. Baker, a 6-5, 282 pound offensive lineman from Fort Bend Elkins also has offers from Missouri, Stanford, and Houston. Additionally, it was reported last month that Baker was being recruited by Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Iowa State, and Texas Tech. Although Baker has stated he really likes the Big 10, he is worth keeping an eye on for the time being.
Another recent scholarship offer from Baylor went out to Hempstead High School running back Chris Tate. Tate, a 5-10, 170 pound back was named all region and 2nd team all-district for his junior year.
Big 12 Recruiting Expert Jeremy Patterson recently caught up with Tate, who told Patterson this about his Baylor offer: "That was my first one and I really like Baylor a lot so it was pretty big for me."
When asked to list his favorites, Tate included Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M, UTEP, Texas and Oklahoma.
Greg Stewart is a player we have reported on before, and it looks like Baylor is currently still his only offer. In the recruiting game, it always pays to be the first to offer, so we'll monitor how this one plays out.
Stewart told Jeremy Patterson this about his favorites and a possible commitment: "Right now my top three are Baylor, Oklahoma State and LSU. I am still planning to wait a while before I commit unless the perfect situation comes along."
Stewart's blazing speed is something that would fit nicely in Offensive Coordinator Lee Hayes' new offense as a receiver or Defensive Coordinator Bill Bradley's defensive backfield. "He's a very solid player," Corsicana head coach Dave Henigan said. "He's one of the fastest guys I've coached. We timed him at a 4.36 twice not too long ago, he can definitely fly."
Von Miller is a 6-2, 211 pound linebacker out of De Soto high school who had 38 tackles and 7 sacks as a junior. He recently told Jeremy Patterson, "Right now I don't really have any favorites. I am looking at all of the schools that have offered me." Those schools include Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Florida, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Colorado State, Arkansas and Central Florida. While the Bears have some stiff competition for this prospect, they won't be backing down any time soon.
