Superior Defensive End Talks Football

La Marque High School has seen a lot of great athletes pass through its doors. This year is no different. With a number of prospects entering their senior year, BearsIllustrated.com caught up with one of the best. See what he had to say about where Baylor stands in the mix of it all only inside.

Raphael Guidry was one of the guys at the Scout.com combine in Waco, Texas that really showed off his ability as a defensive end. During one-on-one drills, Guidry asked to go first, and chose to go against Tray Allen (Texas commit). Guidry explains how it all went down.

"I picked Tray Allen, and I won the first one. I wanted to go out there and set the tone. I feel like I did."

Guidry wants to make it known that the school at the top of his list is LSU.

"LSU is number one. Baylor is number two."

The talented defensive end currently holds offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Iowa State, UTEP, Colorado State, Tulane, Central Florida, and Tulsa.

So what does Guidry like about Baylor?

"It's not too far away from home. When I went out there for Scout.com, it was pretty nice up there. I didn't get to see the whole campus because I had to leave and come straight home. But I hear it's really nice."

Coach Wnek is recruiting Guidry from Baylor, and seems to be making an impact.

"Oh, he's a cool coach."

Guidry is quick to say that pass-rushing is his biggest asset on the field, while he hopes to put on more weight for next year and create havoc and get after it next year. As to when he will make a decision, Guidry explains that he will probably wait until the season is over.

Guidry talks a little bit about how his recruitment has gone.

"It is fun and everything. Sometimes you get a whole lot of phone calls. Sometimes you don't want to pick up the phone, or don't want to text back. But it is fun though. People ask you 'What school are you going to, what school are you going to?', that is kind of fun."

So as the football season approaches, Guidry is looking forward to a couple of different things.

"I want to make my team better. I want to do anything I can to help my team and my teammates get better."

Baylor is definitely in the mix for this talented defensive end, BearsIllustrated.com will keep you updated on his recruitment.
