Catching Up With Andre Richardson

It's no secret that the Baylor Bears have been burning up the recruiting trail. The Bears have jumped to a quick start, but there is one player that the Bears offered early that has not yet made a commitment. See what Arlington Bowie cornerback Andre Richardson had to say only inside

Baylor was in early as they were the first school to offer, but since then, the list has grown. Andre Richardson, a 5-10 180 pound cornerback out of Arlington Bowie High School, reports a number of scholarship offers including Houston, Baylor, Missouri, UTEP, Washington State, Arizona State, and Tulsa. Richardson has already narrowed his list to 3.

"Right now it is Washington State, Baylor and Houston. No order, they are all number one right now."

Impressed by the campus at Baylor, liking the city of Houston, and appreciating the attention he is receiving from Washington State, Richardson explains that he doesn't quite know when he will make his decision. He does report that Houston has shown him the most attention.

"I'll decide when I'm ready. That's what I say. I'll decide when I'm ready."

So what is it that the talented cornerback is looking for?

"Atmosphere, the people, and the football team. The deciding factor will be where I see myself in two years, and where I can keep in touch with my family."

While Richardson is not shy when talking about his abilities on the football field, he does stress the importance of putting the team first.

"I am always aware of what's going on the field. Let's say it 2nd and 7. I will be yelling 'Pass, pass' or 'Outside run'. I also take away the other team's number one guy. Last year, I didn't give up a touchdown."

"They better not throw it over here because I am going to make the coach on the other side of the field throw his clipboard down. I am going to make the people on our side stand up. I will make sure they don't start playing the touchdown song."

"Honestly, I have no personal goals. I want to help my team. The one team goal is to make it to the playoffs for the first time in history."

Richardson has been keeping busy with work this summer, but is staying active and sharpening his skills by playing in 7 on 7 competitions.
