Curtis Thomas: One On One

Houston Aldine High School safety Curtis Thomas is busy preparing for his senior season. Although football practice starts up on Monday for Thomas, the 3-star prospect took the time to update on his recruitment and where Baylor stands in the midst of it all. Come inside to see what he had to say.

At 6-1 190, Curtis Thomas is an athletic safety that can come up to stop the run or blanket receivers that are running downfield. Holding offers from several Big 12 schools, including Baylor, Thomas talked a little bit about his recruitment:

"My recruitment has been tough lately. I have been getting more and more letters and books from a lot of colleges."

"I don't really have a favorites list right now. I am looking at a lot of different colleges, mostly in the Big 12."

So what kind of interest does Thomas have in Baylor University?

"They are high interest. I went there for a combine. I got to see how the field was and the campus. I did not get to see the inside of campus or anything like that. But it seems like a school that I am considering."

Although he has an interest in the Big 12, Thomas' interest in the SEC schools continues to get stronger.

"Schools like Alabama and Tennessee have good programs for guys in the secondary like me. The SEC is also a big conference to go and play in. The SEC and the Big 12 are the conferences that I have always loved and want to go and play in."

Thomas is expecting to make a decision near the middle of his senior season.

"Right now I am learning more and more about the colleges that I am looking at."

Thomas is expecting some big things his senior year, and is trying to make sure he is one of the leaders.

"I am working on being a better senior leader. A lot of our seniors last year were not good senior role models, or good leaders. I am also working on my speed. My girlfriend is helping me work on my speed because she is real fast. I am just trying to help the team however I can. One of our goals is to go to State, and that is just one thing we have been working on."

Thomas explains that his good friend Terrance Anderson, a former prep teammate at Aldine, is at Oklahoma State, another team recruiting Thomas.

Thomas seems to be taking his time and studying the different colleges that have offered. In the mean time he will be studying offensive sets and gamefilm.
