DB Willie Andrews has shown a good deal of versatility over the first two weeks of training camp. Managing kick return duties in addition to his time playing defensive back, Andrews appeared ready to secure a spot on the roster as a return specialist and reserve defender.
During the morning practice session on Wednesday, Andrews lined up with the scout team to run routes as a receiver. On two plays he made spectacular receptions drawing cheers from the crowd. His performance caught the eye of the coaching staff. Andrews emerged for the afternoon practice in a white jersey. White is reserved for players on offense.
During the afternoon practice Andrews had two deep passes thrown his direction. The first was overthrown, and the second was broken up by Antwain Spann. Andrews also fielded punts during the session.
Andrews' versatility has made him an almost lock for a roster spot.
