Beaumont (Tx.) Westbrook athlete Billy Chavis is one of the most versatile athletes in the country. He could play a number of positions. He committed to the Baylor Bears in July and has stuck with his commitment, but will he take other visits?
"I am committed to Baylor," Chavis said. "Signing day isn't until February 2 so anything is possible and I owe to myself to keep my options open, but right now I am still committed to Baylor."
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Chavis is ranked as the nation's No. 5 tight end prospect and the overall No. 73 player.
"Missouri, Clemson, Iowa State, Iowa, Arizona and a bunch of others have still been calling," Chavis said. "I do not have any officials set yet and I'm not sure that I will take any to anybody other than Baylor. I know that they won't want me to take any other trips."
Chavis has had a dislocated finger and has not played much on offense, but on defense has racked up nearly 40 tackle and an interception already.
"Teams aren't throwing my way a whole lot," Chavis said. "I guess they see this big ole tall guy and say we need to stay away from that cat. Most of my tackles have been on running plays."
Will he take visits?
